Astro’s Moonbin cast in JTBC’s coming-of-age drama ’18 Moments’

Moonbin of K-pop boy group Astro has been cast in his first full-length drama, JTBC’s 18 Moments.

The drama will be headlined by fellow K-pop singer Ong Seong-woo and movie actress Kim Hyang-gi. Besides Ong and Kim, Shin Seung-ho and Kang Ki-young have also confirmed their participation in the drama.

18 Moments (also known as Moments of Eighteen) will revolve around the lives of 18-year-olds who are immature and inexperienced and attempt to capture their fresh experiences and sweet emotions. Choi Jun-woo, Ong’s character in the series, will take center stage in the story.

Moonbin will play Jung Oh-je, a popular kid in the school where Choi transfers to. A good-looking man, he loves sports and enjoys the attention of female students. He becomes Choi’s only friend, often sweetly cooking for him and making sure he does not miss his meals. Behind his gentle and caring nature, however, Jung Oh-je hides a dark secret.

Moonbin first made an appearance in DBSK’s Balloons MV, followed by his debut as a child actor in KBS2’s Boys Over Flowers in which he played the younger version of Kim Bum’s character. He has also appeared in web dramas To Be Continued (2015) and Idol Fever (2017).

Regarding his new role, Moonbin said, “I am very excited to be working on my first full-length drama. I will work hard to show the sincerity and emotions of Jung Oh-je.”

18 Moments will be directed by Shim Na-yeon, who directed the web drama School Of Hip Hop (2017). Yoon Kyung-ah of Girls’ Generation 1979 (2017) fame will be donning the writer’s hat. It is scheduled to begin filming in April and air in the second half of the year.
