Being the very first K-Pop girl group to ever perform at the Coachella music festival, which was live streamed in New York City’s Times Sqaure, group member Rose stated the following below.
“I couldn’t believe it, I couldn’t see the end of it… don’t tell me all those people were there just to see us.”
In addition Rose spoke about the meaning behind the title of their latest chart-killing single.
“Kill This Love, I think the title speaks for itself. It’s a very empowering song.”
Group member Jennie also added:
” It’s about killing toxic love–that hurts us, makes us vulnerable, that makes us weak, and to really find ourselves within [that] love. [Finding] what makes us confident and comfortable when we’re in love.”
In addition, when asked about how the group felt about ‘Kill This Love’ breaking several records, Rose answered
“Nobody could expect anything like that… When we put out music, we don’t go, “Okay, this has to be the next big thing, this has to hit numbers, we don’t count them and wait for them to rock up.”
At the speed of their current momentum, we can assume that this is only just the beginning for BLACKPINK’s success as artists in the US.
Congratulations to BLACKPINK!
