Esom, Uhm Tae-goo courted to headline season 2 of ‘Save Me’

Esom and Uhm Tae-goo are currently in talks to headline the second season of OCN drama Save Me.

According to a representative from the drama’s production team, the two actors, along with veteran actor Chun Ho-jin (My Strange Hero), have been offered the lead roles in the said series. The synopsis of the drama is still under wraps, but a very short description of the character given to Esom is out—she is considering to portray an impostor who is “beautiful without makeup.”

If Esom accepts that role, it will be her second leading role in a TV series, following her character in The Third Charm as an honest and emotional woman who falls in love with someone (Seo Kang-joon) she met on a group blind date. Meanwhile, Uhm Tae-goo’s most recent TV project is the 2015 historical series More Than A Maid. If he signs up for the role, he will play the male protagonist in a series for the first time.

The first season of Save Me (also known as Rescue Me), which aired from August 5 to September 24, 2017, is a psychological thriller based on a webtoon titled Out of the World by Jo Geum-san. Its title refers to the cry for help of a young woman (played by Seo Ye-ji) who has found herself in a dangerous situation when she and her family move into the countryside from Seoul and become involved with a religious cult. Fortunately, a smart and warm-hearted guy (Taecyeon) and his friends—played by Woo Do-hwan, Lee David, and Ha Hwe-jung—have come to her rescue.

The second season of Save Me is set to be broadcast in May 2019.
