Fujii Mina will be working with Lee Ki-woo and Ryu Hyun-kyung for an upcoming SBS drama titled Doctor Detective, according to an announcement made by entertainment agency O.N. Worldwide on April 2.

Doctor Detective is a medical and social satire drama that follows a doctor who aims to treat an ailing society where many people still die from easily preventable and curable diseases. Lead actors Lee Ki-woo (Fate and Wrath) and Ryu Hyun-kyung (Feel Good To Die) will play a pair of rich siblings, with Ryu playing the titular “doctor detective.” Meanwhile, Fujii Mina has taken on the role of Seok Jin-yi, a team leader at UDC, a center for unknown diseases. Seok is an intelligent leader, and despite her young age, she has already finished masters and doctoral degrees.

The other confirmed cast members are Park Jin-hee (Return), Bong Tae-kyu (Return), and Lee Young-jin (Matrimonial Chaos).

Fujii’s role in the series is a great addition to her acting credentials. Best known for her roles in the TV adaptation of Bloody Monday and horror film Kyōfu, she made her television acting debut in 2007 through Fuji TV’s BroccoliDoctor Detective is not her first foray into Korean dramas as she already played supporting roles in Korean TV productions like Channel A’s Panda and Hedgehog and SBS’s The King of Dramas, which both aired in 2012.

Doctor Detective will start filming this month and premiere in July after The Secret Life Of My Secretary concludes its run.
