Ji Chang-wook confirmed to star in sci-fi romantic comedy ‘Melt Me’

Ji Chang-wook‘s fans are up for a celebration as he has confirmed his comeback drama after his military discharge! The actor, who was discharged on April 27, 2019, will star in Melt Me, an upcoming romantic comedy slated to premiere on tvN in the latter part of the year.

Written by Baek Mi-kyung (Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, Woman of Dignity) and directed by Shin Woo-chul (Where Stars Land, Secret Garden, Lovers in Paris), Melt Me is a sci-fi romantic comedy that tells the story of a man and a woman who participate in a sketchy scientific experiment. They were tapped to be frozen for 24 hours, but they wake up 20 years later because of a mysterious scheme. After they are defrosted, they experience a dangerous side effect from the experiment—they must maintain their body temperature at 31.5 degrees Celsius (88.7 degrees Fahrenheit) to live. As the two people develop feelings for each other, they find themselves in a weird situation as they strive to survive.

Actor Ji Chang-wook will play the role of Ma Dong-chan, a variety show director who has produced many successful shows. He decides to be a participant in his latest show, Frozen Human Project, to test its effectiveness. The experiment, in which real people would be frozen for a specific period of time, is intended to last only for 24 hours with him as one of the participants. However, he mysteriously wakes up from it after two decades. While he expects that he will age after the duration of the experiment, he wakes up with the same physique as twenty years ago.

Ji Chang-wook’s last TV drama before serving the military was the 2017 rom-com Suspicious Partner.
