Ji Chang-wook has been courted to play the leading role in a tvN drama called Melt Me, which is only one of the many projects he is reviewing ahead of his discharge from the military at the end of the month. This was revealed by an industry insider and confirmed by the actor’s agency, Glorious Entertainment, on Tuesday.

Melt Me is a romantic comedy about a man and a woman who participate in an experiment to be frozen for 24 hours, only to gain consciousness two decades later because of a mysterious lapse in the process. When they wake up, they realize that in order for them to survive, they must maintain their average body temperature at 27.5 degrees Celsius (81.5 degrees Fahrenheit), which is way lower than the normal adult body temperature of 37 degrees Celsius (98.6 degrees Fahrenheit). Ji Chang-wook (Suspicious Partner) has been offered the role of the man named Ma Dong-chan, a producing director of hit variety shows who is logical and cold in the workplace but is very passionate when it comes to love.

If the actor accepts the offer, it will be his first drama after his discharge from the military on April 27.

Melt Me is a brainchild of writer Baek Mi-kyung (Strong Woman Do Bong Soon, Woman of Dignity) that will be directed by Shin Woo-chul (Gu Family Book, Where Stars Land). It is set to be broadcast as a Saturday-Sunday drama in the second half of 2019, following the conclusion of upcoming series Hotel Del Luna starring IU and Yeo Jin-goo.

Ji Chang-wook is also in talks to headline the first aerospace-themed Korean drama City of Stars, which follows the dreams of two men who want to travel to outer space. The said series already cast Byun Yo-han as one of the leading characters but the actor suddenly announced his departure from the show.
