JTBC taps Lee Sun-kyun, Jung Ryeo-won to lead ‘War of Prosecutors’

Actors Lee Sun-kyun and Jung Ryeo-won might be working together for a new JTBC drama called War of Prosecutors.

Reports of the two actors being cast together for the upcoming drama were released on February 27. In response to the reports, JTBC was quick to clarify that although both Lee Sun-kyun and Jung Ryeo-won have been tapped to play the lead roles in its new primetime series, their participation in the production is not confirmed yet.

War of Prosecutors is based on a collection of essays of the same name by writer Kim Woong, a prosecutor himself. The essays talk about the everyday lives of prosecutors, which are in contrast to what people usually see in a drama.

Lee Sun-kyun has been in the industry for quite a long time. He started his career in musical theater and landed big roles on the small screen. He is best known for his role in Coffee Prince, where he starred alongside Yoon Eun-hye and Gong Yoo. He was last seen in My Ajusshi with IU and Lee Ji-ah.

Meanwhile, Jung Ryeo-won, who was a former member of hit girl group Chakra, established her name in the industry through her role in My Name is Kim Sam Soon. She portrayed a prosecutor in Witch’s Court, and last appeared in Wok of Love.

Should both Jung Ryeo-won and Lee Sun-kyun accept the casting offers, they will collaborate in a TV series for the first time. War of Prosecutors’s premiere is slated for November.
