KBS confirms departure of 2 supporting actors from ‘My Lawyer, Mr. Jo 2’

On February 14, KBS confirmed that actors Jo Dal-hwan and Lee Mi-do, who play married couple Ahn Dong-chul and Oh Jung-ja in My Lawyer, Mr. Jo 2: Crime and Punishment, will be leaving the drama.

A representative from the network said, “Due to changes in the storyline, Jo Dal-hwan and Lee Mi-do will be appearing only until the middle of the drama. As the drama is in an episodic format, the story has always revolved around the lives of the lead actors’ characters. It is possible that the plot will allow new characters to join and existing characters to leave.”

While the statement from KBS seemed that both parties were aware of the changes, a from J-Wide Company, the management agency of Jo and Lee, said, “This news was sudden. We were not aware they would be leaving soon. When we joined the team, no discussion about early departure was made.”

The news left the two actors and the entertainment company feeling embarrassed. The actors were aware that their roles would not get enough screen time, but they were shocked to know about their parts in the story ending too soon.

My Lawyer, Mr. Jo 2: Crime and Punishment (also known as Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho 2) is the sequel to the 2016 series Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho, which centers on a prosecutor-turned-lawyer, played by Park Shin-yang, who fights injustice and corruption. In the second season, the main character’s license gets revoked and his family has left him to live abroad. Little did he know that the peaceful life he has always wanted to live is still far from being possible, but he has no choice but to take the new challenges.

Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho 2 airs every Monday and Tuesday on KBS2.
