Netflix’s ‘Love Alarm’ casts rookie teen actress Kim Si-eun

On April 5, it was announced that young actress Kim Si-eun has been cast in the Netflix original series Love Alarm.

Based on the popular webtoon by Chon Kye-young, Love Alarm revolves around an app created by a mysterious software developer that sends out alerts to its users whenever anyone within a 10-meter radius has a crush on them. Besides allowing people to communicate with their crushes anonymously, the app causes huge disruptions in society as everyone is suddenly forced to face their feelings.

Song Kang (The Liar And His Lover) and Kim So-hyun (Radio Romance) play the leads in the show. Kim plays Jo-jo, a cheerful girl with a painful past while Song stars as Sun-oh, a model from a wealthy family who falls for her. SKY Castle’s Song Gon-hee, Jung Ga-ram (Mistress), and Lee Jae-eung have been roped in as supporting cast members.

Kim Si-eun is set to play Yuk-jo, a glamorous woman with a loveable personality and youthful charms. She made her debut in KBS2’s School 2017 and has appeared in dramas like Bad Papa and When Time Stopped.

Love Alarm is directed by Lee Na-jeong (Fight For My Way) and co-written by Seo Bo-ra and Lee Ah-youn. It is a joint production between Netflix and Studio Dragon, a Korean drama production company behind several critically acclaimed dramas such as Another Miss Oh, Dear My Friends, and Circle. The 8-episode series will be broadcast on tvN and be made available for streaming on Netflix in the latter half of 2019.
