Rookie actor Kim Young-dae cast in Ju Ji-hoon’s ‘Item’

Actor Kim Young-dae has been cast in MBC’s ongoing fantasy-thriller drama, Item. On February 20, the actor’s agency, Outer Korea Management, revealed that he has been cast in the role of a younger Kang Gon.

Kim Young-dae will be given the task of depicting the childhood of Kang Gon, played by actor Ju Ji-hoon, in the drama. Kim is expected to add a lot of depth to the storyline with his youthful looks and innocent acting. It is rumored that Ju Ji-hoon recommended the young actor personally after seeing his audition for the role. Kim Young-dae was last seen on KBS2 TV’s drama special, The Expiration Date Of You And Me (2018).

Item is a fantasy-thriller based on a webtoon of the same name, about items that have supernatural powers. Three individuals—prosecutor Kang Gon, ruthless industrialist Jo Se-hwang (Kim Kang-woo), and criminal profiler Shin So-young (Jin Se-yeon)—are brought together by destiny in the pursuit of these objects.

The drama’s latest episodes, which aired on the 18th and 19th, drew in the viewers through several dangerous plot developments. Kang Da-in (Shin Rin-ah), Kang Gon’s innocent niece, has accidentally come to possess a powerful magical bracelet that belongs to Jo Se-hwang. In addition, Gon and Da-in are being chased by Ko Dae-soo, who had the bracelet once and has now become addicted to its power. Gon and So-young are seen teaming up to solve a mysterious murder and ward off the danger looming over Da-in.

Item airs every Monday and Tuesday at 10 p.m. KST on MBC.
